Common Name: Pegomastax
Species: Pegomastax fructartor
Time Period: Jurassic
The Pegomastax is a super defensive creature that will attack anything in its vicinity on sight. Despite not having the highest of damage, one unique aspect about this creature is that it can actually steal items in your inventory and make off with them. You should definitely be cautious when encountering some of these guys because they can steal your valuable items without you even realizing it.
The Pegomastax is best known for being a bipedal creature that has very distinct features. It can be most commonly found in the southern regions of the island and in the badlands area in the Scorched Earth map. They have a carrying weight of 20, which means that the following creatures can pick it up: Argentavis, Kaprosuchus, Megalosaurus, Tapejara, Pteranodon, Quetzal, Tusoteuthis, and Wyvern.
Also note than whenever you tame this creature, you can carry it on your shoulder. Killing one will yield hide, and raw meat. They are super easy to kill so these creatures are often a starting point for some survivors in order to get a lot of these resources while receiving a decent amount of experience.
It might be worth noting that the Pegomastax produces small sized feces that can be used for fertilizing purposes. I definitely think this creature is one worth having on your team not only for its feces size, but for its unique abilities that you will see the longer that you have it on your team!
If you have your own server and wish to spawn one on common, you can type the following into the console: admincheat summon Pegomastax_Character_BP_C
How to Tame a Pegomastax
Whenever you decide that you wish to tame one of these, there are some very important things to consider. First, know that the Pegomastax has a very unique taming method. It is a hybrid of the passive taming method. Instead of conventional means of force feeding the dinosaur, you have to allow the Pegomastax to steal from you. To do this the easiest way possible, put either mejoberries or berries in your last inventory slot on your bars as this is where it steals from most commonly.
Stealing from you will also deal a little bit of damage, so be sure that you are healthy when going to tame one. For a level thirty Pegomastax, you will need either 31 mejoberries, or 47 regular berries. This will take a total time of about 15 minutes from start to finish.
If you wish for an easy experience, you can put him inside of a taming box so that you can stand inside with him and allow him to steal from you while you are both in the box. This way, the creature cannot get distracted and run away, or be killed by another passing dinosaur. This is definitely the best way to go about taming, and once you have it tamed, you’ll be super thankful that you made this decision. If you do not have access to a little pen to tame it in, you can immobilize it by using a bola trap, bear trap, or a Plant Species Y Trap.
You can breed these creatures and the breeding process is not too difficult. The eggs need to be kept in an area that is between 28 and 35 degrees Celsius and will take a total breeding time of about a day.
Once you have one tamed, you can carry it around on your shoulder. You can set it down and set the creature to wander and it will go about its business and randomly steal items from either other players or from dinosaurs. The Pegomastax has a chance to steal super rare items from regular dinosaurs, but if it encounters a player, it will steal from them and run back to wherever the person who tamed it currently is. This is a very unique aspect to the game that the developers have made a point of saying that it will be expanded upon in the future.
Wild: Among the bottom of the island’s dinosaur food chain is a small herbivore called Pegomastax fructarator. It is content to spend all day alone, gorging itself on far more food than you might reasonably expect for a creature of its tiny stature. Its beak appears perfectly evolved for collecting food from plants while avoiding the indigestible fibrous strands.
Domesticated: While not pretty, and far too small to ride, tribes often keep Pegomastax around as a kind of farming aid. Its skill at scavenging means that it collects an extraordinary quantity of seeds and berries, while also handily gathering the rare Flowers, Mushrooms, and other ingredients necessary to cook up unusual concoctions.
Known Information: Pegomastax is likely to ignore any nearby creature and continue foraging, unless it is attacked. At which point, it turns into a very aggressive (though rather unthreatening) opponent, shrieking and wooping far above its actual threat level. You would expect a creature this small and weak to live in flocks, but Pegomastax seems to be fairly solitary in nature.
